CODE OF ETHICS
(v1.0 December 15, 2008)
As the premier professional association of writers, photographers, editors, and tourism professionals, the North American Travel Journalists Association, strives to maintain and promote the highest ethic standards. We must rigorously educate those new to our profession, as well as pledge ourselves to uphold these standards now and into the future.
As journalists, we pledge to always, and at all costs, present the truth in journalism. Our creative work is a direct reflection upon us as the creators of this work
We must act in an honest and forthright manner, both in our journalistic endeavors and in our business actions as professionals. Honesty must be maintained not only in the works we create, but also in our dealings with others in the travel profession and related fields.
Just as we expect to be treated fairly, we must conduct our business affairs and our professional efforts in a manner that proceeds from fairness, balance, and understanding.
As journalists me must strive to achieve accuracy in our reporting, depictions, and portrayals. The public at large and travel professionals alike must rely upon our efforts, and deserve no less than honest and accurate reporting.
Travel journalists must maintain a vigilant effort at pursuing and maintaining our affairs with integrity, both in our creative works as well as in our business affairs.
6) Professional Conduct
We, as professionals, must strive to keep the highest of standards in our work and affairs, and conduct ourselves in a professional manner at any and all opportunities. We want to be treated and compensated as valued professionals, and pledge to adhere to the highest professional standards.
